Building A New Day Care Center - 1616 Words

Introduction--- Northville’s significant change in the composition of its municipal work force of 1,800 employees prompted city official to open up a new day care center for the children of city employees. The day care has been a great success. The city had provided the facilities and taken care of utilities for the City’s Tiny Tots Day Care center for the past eight months, and will continue to do so until the end of the year. The initial budget was accurate; however there are some adjustments that need to be made for 2015. Assumptions and Parameters are described in Attchment A-1 of the Excel workbook. Question 1.--- Attachment A-1-- Maintaining Ratio for both early and late Shift--- The estimated enrollment for the beginning of the 2015 year is 267, estimated to increase 5% a month and reaching 467 enrollments by December. Currently the daycare center ratio will remain one daycare worker for every 6 children. Beginning Jan 2015, the center will provide childcare for extended morning and afternoon hours, from 8a.m. to 6 p.m. Due to the extended business hours and in order to maintain the center 1 to 6 staff to student ratio, more full time staff will have to be added as needed. It is estimated that 70% of the children will be dropped off in the morning at 8 a.m., therefore, enough staff will have to be available to maintain the ratio.
